I’m not Afraid

Writer: kscott66814kscott66814

I'm feeling a little better today. I've been awake all day and I made David and I a salad for lunch. They say healing is not linear and this is so true. I have ups and downs for sure. Sometimes it's day to day and sometimes it's hour to hour. I know that I have made great strides in my recovery and I will continue to move forward. I am so thankful for this gift of life ❤️

I received a call from the heart transplant team. My labs all look good. My Tacrolimus level is a bit high at 12.5 so I was instructed to decrease my morning dose but I will keep the evening dose the same. I'm encouraged that with the decrease in my prednisone and the morning anti rejection dose my side effects will decrease too. Fingers crossed.

When we were first told that I needed a heart transplant David and I were scared but we knew that I needed to do whatever it took to live. I'm a fighter so I knew that I could physically do my part.

Initially I was worried if I would even qualify for the heart transplant list. The evaluation is very intense. They check everything and it requires a week long stay in the hospital meeting with multiple specialists and ancillary departments. To name a few ...Psychiatry, Infectious Disease, GI, Surgery, Nutrition, Physical Therapy, Social Work and Financial Advisers. During the evaluation one of my doctors told use"do not to be afraid or embarrassed to fundraise because you will need it!" This made me really concerned about the impact this heart transplant would have on our financial future. David looked at me and said I don't want you to think about the money we will figure it out even if we have to make a payment plan. I've tried not to think about it but unfortunately its heavy in my head. We have been blessed with wonderful friends and family in our lives who have been so supportive in every way. When David and I started discussing fundraising ideas he really wanted to do a calendar raffle so we started planning. It has now come together and they are available for purchase. David is very excited! There are a lot of great gift cards to win. David will draw the winners live on Facebook starting September 1, 2023. It's going to be so fun! If you would like to purchase calendar raffles let me know. You can also Venmo @ eachbeatmatters. Please specify that you are purchasing them from me or David and provide your phone number so that we can contact you if you are a winner!

Thank you for your support
